Accidents

Accidents in this great land of ours that boasts of a great civilisation has become too frequent to care about. To remain calm and forget; as time is the biggest healer perhaps is one of our compulsions. Lord Buddha might have preached this too in current scenario with Mahatma Gandhi adding flavours. But what when your followers dwindle by the act of genocide and modern cannibalism?

Our security is perhaps is in our own hands. But allow me to say that the companies that sell security perhaps will be the biggest achievers with sales breaking all known barriers of marketing . The recent spurt in organised market of crime and related activities has flourished to such an extent that commoners have become easy targets of prey.

Our approach towards accidents is strange too. I could not help appreciating a comment made on TV by an eminent activist on railway consumer disputes, when he said, "Engines roll, bogies roll, passengers roll but not a HEAD roll". Accidents on roads are barely reported as people are interested more in big fat miseries inflicted. Such is the scenario that in all major dailies, the derailment at Malwan gained access to pages more than the one near Rangiya. SAD or SIC? I need not vent my ire at the attitude of the organisation running the business of transporting passengers and goods across the country.

It is better to forget and fork such accidents off. They are part of our curriculum and best, we should learn to take them in our stride.

  1. First , let us not mix up the terrorist activities and the accidents whih occur intermittenly.
Yes Mumbaikars have almost taken a blast as an accident, otherwise they wouldn't hv started their normal
life the very next day. In Kolkata / west bengal, we just can't think abt it.
Now let us put some light on the comments ,our great leaders hv passed :
Rahul Gandhi "We have stopped 99 per cent of the attacks. But one per cent of attacks are getting through"

The potty mouthed Congres Spokesman Digvijay Singh said "Even US had to go through 9/11 attacks. In a country of 1.2 billion, we have made progress. We have improved our intelligence network. But nobody can say that there won't be any further attacks. We are comparatively better than Pakistan, where attacks happen every day, every week.We have tackled these attacks very well" came the foolish comment from the headline grabber.
Yes the Hindus hv increased their tolerance limit to such an extent , that even
the slightest protest gets thrashing from the so called 'SECULARS'.

Anupam Kher rightly joked 'We r not pressuring the govt to execute AJMAL KASAB' but at least the security provided to him can also be extended to us!!

Even Mohd. Afzal who was the prime accused in the Parliament attack Dec 13,2001 is still having the security which even we cannot think of!.(supposed to be hanged in Oct 2006)

Lets face the fact . Repeating ur last lines SIR!

It is better to forget and fork such accidents off.
They are part of our curriculum and best,
we should learn to take them in our stride.

Barely had my son completed the honours of closing the garage gates that I usually do and, settled down in the co-driver’s seat while I was at the wheels. It was parked momentarily by the road near my residence, before intending to take off to attend to an appointment wit...

Any resemblance to persons living or dead may be purely coincidental] With credits to Mrs. Papia Kundu nee Mondal a friend from childhood Dipak had barely completed his diploma in civil engineering when he landed in a job as a junior engineer in a central government department. Such personnel were the eyes of the organisation at the ground level. It was a mass recruitment of sorts where, the country was reshaping itself, a couple of decades after independence. Observing his deft skill-sets, he was selected by his peers for a foreign posting, most immediately. Every...

[With avid inputs from Sanjay Choudhury, my friend and batchmate from REC (now NIT) Silchar] The place of posting was more than 150 kilometers from home. But roads were good and the car strong, that would barely take three hours to reach on weekends to the comforts of sweet home. That was a regular practice since my posting here as my family couldn’t join due to educational obligations of my only child. I never gave a second thought due to easy accessibility and, otherwise disciplined traffic. They would also join me whenever they felt like. Another week was about to end for me to show up at home. But then, it was difficult to gauge from the moods of madamme and my child on arrival, whether they were happy or the other. The travel bag, a duffel, was small but had enough space to hold a few essentials. It was quite usual to keep a couple of sets back home so that, everytime I’d visit, there wasn’t any dearth of garments that would enbrace my body on the three nights that I stay put forg...
